Brampton 2026 Election: Meet the Municipal Candidates

Meet the Candidates: Brampton’s 2026 Municipal Election

Municipal elections have a direct impact on our everyday lives. From property taxes and roads to transit, housing, policing and community services, the decisions made at City Hall affect everyone who lives in Brampton.

But how well do we really know the people asking for our votes?

For the 2026 Brampton municipal election, I set out to sit down with as many local candidates as possible and give them an opportunity to introduce themselves, talk about the issues they care about, and explain what they would like to accomplish if elected.

The result is this collection of video interviews with candidates from across Brampton.

Getting to know the people behind the campaigns

I wanted these conversations to be different from a traditional political debate or a formal press interview.

Rather than putting candidates through a series of confrontational questions, I wanted to have relaxed, straightforward conversations about Brampton and the issues that matter to residents.

We talked about what candidates were hearing at the doors, what they thought the city was getting right or wrong, their priorities, and what they hoped to accomplish if elected.

Some conversations were serious, others had a few laughs, but the objective was the same: give residents an opportunity to hear directly from the people running for office.

I also wanted to make the process accessible. These weren’t elaborate television productions. They were relatively short conversations designed to help voters learn a little more about the candidates.

Why I wanted to do this

I’m a Brampton resident, a content creator, and someone who has been involved in local politics. I know that getting information about municipal candidates isn’t always easy.

We see campaign signs, social media posts and advertising, but it’s not always easy to get a sense of who the people behind those campaigns actually are.

A short conversation can tell you things that a campaign flyer never will. You get to hear how someone communicates, what they care about, and how they think about the challenges facing our city.

I wasn’t looking to create a series of political endorsements or declare winners and losers. I wanted to give people more information and let residents make up their own minds.

I would have liked to interview more candidates, but time was limited during the campaign. This collection represents the conversations I was able to put together.

Brampton deserves more local conversations

I hope this project is just the beginning.

Brampton has an enormous number of interesting people, businesses, community organizations and stories that deserve more attention. Local media plays an important role in connecting residents with what’s happening in their own city.

Whether you’re interested in municipal politics or simply want to learn more about the people shaping Brampton’s future, I hope you’ll take some time to watch the interviews.

Watch the conversations, get to know the candidates, and make up your own mind.
